In 1985, the Community was formed and held its first set of Walks in August of that year - Lexington Walk for Men #1 and Lexington Walk for Women #1.  Members from the Nashville, Elizabethtown and other Communities made up the teams for these Walks.

On August 5, 2005, the Lexington Emmaus Community held a celebration for the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Community.  The Community gathered at St. Luke UMC in Lexington for a pot luck dinner, worship, communion and fellowship.  Several people involved with the formation of the Community as well as team members and pilgrims from the early Walks were able to attend.

Alan Jackson, a former Community Spiritual Director led the Community in the traditional Community liturgy, worship and communion.  Ron Crandall, who was instrumental in the formation of the Community, provided the Fourth Day message and encouraged Community members to share their Emmaus experiences and how their lives had been changed because they had taken their Walk or had served on a team.

At the conclusion of the worship service, the Community enjoyed a time of fellowship and a time of sharing of memories and photographs of many of the early Walks.
